Fifteen people have been arrested in an investigation into the theft of duty free goods worth hundreds of thousands of pounds at Gatwick Airport.

Raids were carried out at a number of homes in Sussex, Surrey and Kent by more than 60 officers early on Tuesday.

Tens of thousands of pounds and large quantities of perfume, cigarettes and alcohol were recovered.

Fourteen men and one woman were arrested and have been released on bail until August.

Officers executed warrants in Crawley, Brighton, Worthing, Angmering, Bognor Regis, Rustington, Horsham, Lingfield, and Gillingham.

A Sussex Police spokesman said the exact quantities of the seized goods were still being calculated.
