A couple who died when their car crashed near Bridgnorth, Shropshire, have been named.

John Hodgkiss, 82, and his 79-year-old wife Betty, from Tipton, were involved in a collision on the A458 at Wootton last Friday, West Mercia Police said.

Mr Hodgkiss died at the scene of the crash. His wife was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where she died on Saturday.

A spokesperson said an inquest was expected to open later.

Mrs Hodgkiss was a passenger in the car driven by her husband.

It was involved in a collision with a car travelling in the opposite direction.
