Essex County Council care girl 'became child prostitute'
A teenager in local authority care was asked to work as a prostitute, a court has heard.
The 16-year-old girl was giving evidence at the trial of five men who deny all 16 charges against them, including child prostitution and rape.
Two of the six alleged victims were living in east London under the care of Essex County Council.
A jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court was shown a police video in which the girl explained how she became a prostitute.
In the video of the interview, the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told police how she had sex with 25-year-old Naeem Ahmed from Barking.'Liked her'
She explained how she met him through a friend after leaving home and going into care.
She told the police Mr Ahmed said he liked her and that he would be her boyfriend.
The police asked the girl what Mr Ahmed wanted her to work as. "A prostitute," the girl replied.
The jury was told that, on one occasion, another girl - aged 17 and from Benfleet, was held down on a hotel bed by Mr Ahmed while two other men - 23-year-old Nabeel Ahmed from Romford and his brother, Jameel Ahmed, 24, from Dagenham, raped her.
The other two men on trial in the case are Anas Mis Iqbal, 25, from East Ham, who is charged with several counts of rape, and Hassan Raza, 23, from Barking, who is charged with sexual touching.
The trial continues.
