The new Roman Catholic Bishop of East Anglia has been named as Bishop Alan Hopes.

Bishop Alan, 69, who was an Anglican priest until he converted to Catholicism in 1994, succeeds Bishop Michael Evans, who died nearly two years ago.

He told Debbie Tubby that he had been very surprised at the appointment.

"I thought I was going to live out my days in the Palace of Westminster," he said.
