MEP Robert Sturdy looks forward to golf and fishing

MEP Robert Sturdy said he had been lucky with the most fantastic constituents and constituency

MEP Robert Sturdy says he is looking forward to playing golf and going fishing when he stands down as a member of the European Parliament next year.

Conservative Mr Sturdy, 68, who represents the Eastern Region, was elected in 1994.

He said the decision not to seek re-election in 2014 had been a big one but after 20 years he felt the time was right to go and he was looking forward to spending more time at home and with his grandchildren.

"I will certainly miss my position and constituents," he said, but added there was life after the European parliament.
