Flooding has forced the closure of some roads across the North East.

Diversions have been put in place on some routes in County Durham, Teesside and Tyne and Wear.

The Environment Agency has issued a number of flood alerts and flood warnings for the region.

Police forces are urging drivers to take care on the roads due to standing water. The problem has been caused by heavy run-off leaving drains unable to cope, said police.
