Co-op withdraws cherry toy after girl 'almost strangled'

The East of England Co-op has removed a cuddly toy from all of its stores after a four-year-old girl got a toy tangled round her neck.

Emma Charles, of Colchester, in Essex, was left struggling to breathe following the incident.

A pair of joined cherries were part of a range of toys made to look like fruit and vegetables called the Goodness Gang, available to buy after collecting vouchers through Co-op stores.
