Broken-down train causes disruption between Gatwick and Redhill

A broken-down train caused delays and cancellations on services between Gatwick Airport and Redhill in Surrey earlier.

Southern Railway said the 08:30 Brighton to Victoria service was thought to have had an electrical fault in the Horley area at about 09:10 BST.

The train has been recovered and the passengers were put on another train.

Gatwick Express, First Great Western, First Capital Connect and Southern said their services were no longer affected.

The Southern spokesman said the fault was probably a short circuit in the traction motor.
