'Sticky substance' birds wash up on Cornwall and Devon coast

Dozens of birds covered in a sticky substance have been washed up on the south coast of Cornwall and Devon.

The RSPB said they were covered in "what appears to be the same white, sticky substance" that killed hundreds of sea birds in February.

"There is no indication of where the pollution is coming from," it added.

Twelve guillemots were found on Wednesday, and a further 27 on Thursday, the RSPCA said.
