M1 crash: Victim named after Northampton collision

A woman who died after a crash on the M1 on Valentine's Day has been named.

Kathleen Ann Coton, 64, from Epperstone, Nottinghamshire, was a passenger in a car which was in a collision with a van near Northampton.

Police said the 70-year-old female driver of the car and a 70-year-old male passenger remain in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 30-year-old van driver who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been bailed.

Police said the collision took place on the southbound carriageway at about 13:20 GMT when the car was parked on the hard shoulder.

The crash closed the carriageway for much of the afternoon.
