Snow closes the M6 motorway near Wigan

Hundreds of drivers were stranded by a snowstorm on the M6 motorway overnight between Wigan and Chorley.

Motorists were stuck for up to eight hours on the motorway which was blocked in both directions between junctions 25-27.
