Man killed in lorry bypass crash on the A27

A 45-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a lorry on a busy bypass during rush hour.

Police called to the scene on the A27 between Chichester and Emsworth, in Hampshire, at 07:25 GMT, found the body of Alan Potter, from Portsmouth.

The eastbound carriageway was shut between Warblington and the Fishbourne roundabout for six hours, causing several miles of tailbacks.

The westbound carriageway was also shut, but one lane reopened at 09:00.
