Man charged with south east travel agent raids

A man has been charged with robberies at four travel agents after he was arrested as he boarded a flight from Gatwick Airport to Portugal.

The 20-year-old from south London was detained by police in the early hours of 31 December.

He has been charged with four counts of robbery and four counts of possessing a firearm while committing an offence.

The alleged offences took place in London, Kent and Sussex with the theft of currency and travellers' cheques.

Travel agents in Barnet, north London, Sandwich and Hythe in Kent, and Hove in East Sussex were targeted during December.
