Police in the East Midlands issue hundreds of 'Osman warnings'

Hundreds of people in the East Midlands have received formal police warnings that their lives could be at risk following serious threats from criminals.

Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act show 232 Osman Warnings have been issued by Nottinghamshire Police since 2009.

Police issue the warnings when they do not have enough evidence to make an arrest.

Derbyshire Police issued 27 warnings, and the Leicestershire force warned 35 people, as BBC East Midlands Today Social Affairs correspondent, Jeremy Ball explains.
