A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was attacked and two children were rescued from a fire.

The woman, 31, was treated for serious burns to her face and head after the fire at Haden Walk, Rowley Regis, just before 01:00 GMT on 2 December.

A nine-year-old child and a 13-month-old baby were both rescued unharmed.

A Dudley man, 42, has been charged with attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life. He is due to before magistrates in Sandwell later.

Police said he had been receiving hospital treatment for burn injuries since his arrest.
