Ex-cadet instructor Simon Tindall jailed for indecency with teen

Simon Tindall Simon Tindall was found guilty of two counts of indecency at Worcester Crown Court in November

An ex-army cadet instructor, and former Shropshire and Worcestershire PE teacher, has been jailed for two years for grooming a girl for sex.

Simon Tindall, from Severn Street, Bridgnorth, was convicted of two counts of indecency with a 15-year-old girl at Worcester Crown Court last month.

The court heard Tindall had committed the offences in 2003 and 2004.

The 34-year-old was imprisoned and placed on the sex offenders' register for five years.

Jurors convicted Tindall of having sex with the victim in his car and at his former home but cleared him of committing sexual offences against two other teenage girls.

Passing sentence, Judge Robert Juckes QC said Tindall did not recognise the "gross abuse of trust" of his actions.

The judge said: "Because of that abuse of trust and because this offending went on for over a year... the least sentence I can pass is two years' imprisonment."
