Food from Bicester and Fareham for Afghanistan troops
More than 70 truckloads of food to are sent from Hampshire to supply troops in Afghanistan every month.
The deliveries from Fareham-based Purple Food Service go through Europe into Russia, onto Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan before arriving at its intended destination.
Fresh produce from Bicester-based firm Fresh Direct is flown from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.
David Burns, managing director, said his company was sending between 30 to 40 tonnes of carrots and 70 to 80 tonnes of onions every week.
