Police are continuing to search for a man who has been on the run from a Lincolnshire prison for two weeks.
They have urged the public not to approach 47-year-old Lee Cyrus, who is also known as Ivan Leach.
A man matching his description allegedly approached two 15-year-old girls in Preston and asked them to engage in sexual activities with him.
Cyrus was serving a life sentence for robbery when he went on the run and has convictions for sex offences.
Det Ch Insp Ian Dawson, from Lancashire Police, said: "We want to speak with him in connection with an offence of inciting children to engage in sexual activity.
"He is a dangerous individual who poses a serious threat to members of the public with previous convictions for burglary, sex offences against a young girl, assault and robberies in which he has targeted elderly people in their own homes."
Cyrus failed to return to North Sea Camp open prison near Boston on 9 October, after being let out on day release.
Before being jailed he lived and offended in the Preston area, and still has links there.
The two girls were approached by a man at about 18:30 BST on 17 October, as they sat at a bus stop on Lancaster Road, in Preston city centre.
Police said the man made sexual remarks towards them and encouraged them to participate in sexual activities with him.
The girls then boarded their bus and reported the incident to the police.
Officers believe Cyrus could be sleeping rough and travelling "extensively".
They believe he has spent some time in the Tayside area.
Tayside Police are continuing to search for a suspicious male who was seen on the outskirts of Perth, but would not confirm if the search was linked to the disappearance of Cyrus.
