Sussex Orchid View care home death: Kent woman bailed

Orchid View Orchid View has since closed and reopened under a new name and new management

A 44-year-old Kent woman arrested in connection with the death of a care home resident in West Sussex has been released on bail.

The woman, from Tunbridge Wells, had been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence.

Jean Halfpenny, 89, died in May 2010 at Orchid View care home in Copthorne.

Southern Cross, which operated Orchid View, closed the home last year. It has since reopened under a new name and new management.

The arrested woman was released on bail until 30 November, pending further inquiries, Sussex Police said.
