Eastbourne hospital sex charge employee Foday Chorr 'made threat'

The offences are alleged to have taken place at a unit on the Eastbourne District General Hospital site

A psychiatric nursing assistant at Eastbourne hospital sexually assaulted two female patients and threatened one of them, Lewes Crown Court has heard.

Foday Chorr, 46, told one woman he would report her if she did not let him attack her, jurors were told.

Mr Chorr, from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, denies five counts of sexual assault on the two women in June last year.

Opening the case, prosecutor Michael Riley said both women were vulnerable and had mental health issues.

The court heard Mr Chorr, of Shorncliffe Drive, Shrewsbury, walked into one victim's room and asked her what relaxed her.

She said when she had been pregnant she liked to have her feet massaged and Mr Chorr offered to do this, jurors were told.

But Mr Riley said: "[The victim] said she did not want him to, that she was just answering the question."

'Had to comply'

Mr Chorr told her he would put her "in the book" and report her as obstructive if she did not let him do it, Mr Riley said.

The court heard Mr Chorr massaged her feet and moved his hands up and down her legs.

Mr Riley said: "She felt she had to comply with the threat."

And he added: "She froze, she was shocked."

Jurors heard Mr Chorr kissed the woman before he left.

A similar incident occurred the following night except when he touched her legs his hand moved further towards her thigh, jurors heard.

'Scared and shocked'

The second victim was reading in bed when Mr Chorr came into her room late at night, Mr Riley said.

Mr Chorr said he was going to tickle her and she said she did not want him to, but he tickled her feet and moved his hand up and down her leg, the court was told.

"She said she felt scared and shocked," Mr Riley said.

Jurors heard Mr Chorr came back a second time and touched her thigh.

On his third visit that night, the woman woke to find her covers off, her nightgown lifted, and Mr Chorr standing by her bed while she had no underwear on, jurors were told.

The court heard Mr Chorr touched her leg and pubic area.

Mr Riley said Mr Chorr told the woman to "cover up".

"She was scared and didn't think she could do anything about it before [Mr Chorr] had left," Mr Riley said.

Jurors heard the first victim reported the incidents after being discharged from hospital following a four-day stay, and the second victim reported the alleged attacks hours after they happened.
