Arson charges over Kent hospitals and Sheffield hotel fires

A 34-year-old man has been charged with arson following fires at two Kent hospitals and a hotel in Sheffield.

Thomas Ashcroft, of no fixed address, is accused of starting fires at the Medway Maritime and Kent and Canterbury hospitals on Wednesday and Thursday.

Mr Ashcroft was also charged in connection with a fire at the Hilton Hotel in Sheffield.

He was remanded in custody to appear at court on Monday charged with three counts of arson with intent.

The 34-year-old also faces three charges of burglary.
