Missing child sex offender sought by Kent Police

John Archer Barnett John Archer Barnett was last seen in Dover in April

A registered sex offender who is considered to pose a risk to children has gone missing from the Dover area.

John Archer Barnett, 62, was last seen by his landlord on 14 April and is now thought to be travelling around the UK, Kent police said.

He has visited London, Blackpool, Brighton, Scarborough, Dartford and Bournemouth, police said.

Barnett left the Dover area after social services intervened when he became close to a family with children.

Eagle tattoos

Kent Police said: "Barnett is considered to pose a risk to children and may befriend a family in order to offend."

They said Barnett was convicted in 2003 for an indecent assault on an eight-year-old boy and jailed for four years.

He is described as white, about 5ft 8in tall with grey receding hair and a beard which he may have shaved off to disguise his appearance.

Barnett has eagle tattoos on both arms and may be wearing a hearing aid.

He also has an "eczema-type skin condition" visible on his forearms and hands, and one side of his face droops following a stroke, police said.
