The V Festival at Weston Park on the Staffordshire and Shropshire border, and Hylands Park in Essex, got under way on Saturday.
Bands and artists at the festival, now in its 17th year, included Essex's Olly Murs, Snow Patrol, The Killers and Tom Jones.
As temperatures soared on Saturday, so did the mood of V Festival goers enjoying the music in Hylands Park in Essex.
Despite Saturday's sunshine recent rain had made Weston Park muddy but people came prepared with their flowery wellies and sunglasses.
Hot on the heels of an Australian tour and the London 2012 closing ceremony, Suffolk's Ed Sheeran thrilled fans from The Arena in Hylands Park.
Madness, who also recently played at the closing ceremony for the London 2012 Olympics, played Weston Park on Saturday.
And Sir Tom Jones kept the music going on into Saturday evening with songs such as Delilah and It's Not Unusual.
BBC Stoke reporter Tim Wedgwood said that LMFAO were the surprise headline act on the 4Music stage in Staffordshire as Nicki Minaj had to cancel.
The Tings Tings, Labrinth and Keane also entertained crowds of fans.
Noel Gallagher shared a moment with the crowd on the Virgin Media Stage in Hylands Park.
