A Cheshire East councillor has admitted renting out a property without a licence.

Brian Silvester, 60, of Shavington House Farm, Crewe Road in Shavington, appeared before Crewe magistrates earlier alongside his brother.

Both admitted the same charge of failing to obtain the necessary licence for a house in multiple occupation and 11 fire safety offences.

The case has been committed to Chester Crown Court for sentencing.

Silvester, ward councillor for Willaston, appeared alongside his brother Colin Silvester, 58, of Pinewood Crescent, Holcombe Brook, Bury in Greater Manchester.

A date for sentencing has yet to be set.

Both have also admitted 11 offences under the Fire Safety Order (2005).
