Man arrested over stolen Nottinghamshire drugs van

A second man has been arrested after a van carrying prescription drugs was stolen in Nottinghamshire.

The Ford Transit, stolen from outside a pharmacy in Jacksdale at about 09:00 BST on 6 July, was later involved in a two-police vehicle crash in Derbyshire.

The 27-year-old, who has been arrested on suspicion of a number of robberies in Nottinghamshire, has been released pending further inquiries.

A 30-year-old man, charged with dangerous driving, has been bailed.

John Ward, of Victoria Street, in Ironville, Derbyshire, was arrested after the crash and was also charged with driving with no licence or insurance.

Nottinghamshire Police believe the stolen pharmaceuticals van was used in three robberies and one attempted robbery on the same day.

Three happened in Sutton-in-Ashfield and one in Huthwaite.

Three Derbyshire Police officers suffered minor injuries in the collision which happened on Friday evening in Riddings, near Alfreton.

Mr Ward suffered neck and back injuries in the crash and was treated in hospital.

Police have recovered the stolen van and found the prescription drugs since the theft.
