Woman killed in Worcestershire M5 motorway crash

A woman has been killed in a crash between a car and a van on the M5 in Worcestershire.

It happened on the southbound carriageway between junctions seven at Worcester and eight at Strensham at about 22:00 BST on Friday.

West Mercia Police said the 63-year-old driver of a Mazda MX-5, who was from the Gloucester area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for more than five hours.

The crash is being investigated by the Central Motorway Police Group.
