Cumbrian snowboarder in Alaska challenge

A winter sports athlete from Cumbria is setting off to snowboard down one of Alaska's highest mountains.

Julia Pickering will lead a team of seven - including husband Warwick - and a Newcastle-based TV documentary crew.

Experienced climber and snowboarder Ms Pickering will spend three days scaling the 15,000ft Mount Bear to spend an hour riding down "the white powder".
