Man who fled Norwich court arrested by police in Ipswich Asda

A man who fled from custody at a court hearing in Norwich has been arrested by police in a Suffolk supermarket.

Arfath Ali, 28, was found at Asda on Bury Road, Ipswich, at 15.15 BST on Sunday.

He was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he remains in custody. He is due to be transferred to Norfolk for questioning.

Mr Ali escaped from Norwich Crown Court on 3 April after being charged with assault.

A police spokeswoman said Mr Ali was found after officers in Suffolk were alerted to his car.
