Woman first to have new keyhole surgery heart operation

Help

A woman from Lincolnshire has become the first person in England to have a new heart operation using keyhole surgery.

The 89-year-old, from Holbeach, has been able to have the procedure without having open heart surgery, which has led to a significant reduction in her recovery time.

Experts at Glenfield Hospital, in Leicester, were behind the procedure, developing a valve that is easier to position.

Rob Sissons reports for East Midlands Today.
