With this spring's higher-than-average temperatures and low rainfall, water butts are among the most sought after items in garden centres in the south of England.
Haskins Garden Centre, which has four shops in the South, said sales of butts were up eight fold over the past week.
Drought-resistant plants are also proving popular as gardeners prepare for a long hot summer.
