Victor Franklin jailed for Nottingham bank robberies

Franklin handed himself into a police station after seeing an appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch

A Lincoln man has been jailed for five-and-a-half-years after he admitted robbing two Nottingham banks last year.

Victor Franklin, 59, of Buckfast Road, admitted two counts of robbery and possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He raided branches of Lloyds TSB on Low Pavement on 25 July and Lower Parliament Street on 17 October.

Franklin handed himself in after seeing an appeal about the robberies on the BBC's Crimewatch programme.

Nottingham Crown Court heard he stole more than £6,000.
