East Midlands traffic officers help after M1 accident
Traffic officers for the East Midlands Highways Agency assisted emergency services during an accident which closed three lanes of the M1.
East Midlands Today has been taking a look at the work of the Highways Agency in the region and has seen how they helped police, fire and paramedics remove a driver safely from her car on the motorway.
Officer Andy Gough, one of 70 road staff in the region who are responsible for over 260-miles of carriageway, said their priority was to divert traffic and keep motorists informed about the accident.
