Greyhound trainer Charlie Lister appointed OBE

One of the UK's most successful greyhound trainers has been appointed OBE in the New Year Honours.

Charlie Lister, from Newark in Nottinghamshire, has won six Greyhound Derbies and almost every other major honour during a glittering career.

More than 30 people across the East Midlands are celebrating New Year Honours.

Jeanette Orrey, who is credited with inspiring Jamie Oliver's campaign for healthier school meals through her own work at a school in East Bridgford in Nottinghamshire, has been appointed MBE.

Geoff Stevens, who has acted as compere at the Matlock Bath Illuminations since the 1960s, also becomes an MBE for services to the community in Matlock in Derbyshire.
