Keanu Williams: Mother and man in court on murder charge

A mother and her former partner have appeared in court charged with the murder of her two-year-old son.

Rebecca Shuttleworth, 23, of Cottingham Road, Manchester, was charged over the death of Keanu Williams, who died on 9 January in Ward End, Birmingham.

She was remanded in custody at Birmingham Magistrates' Court along with Luke Southerton, 30, from Hagley Road in Edgbaston in the city.

They are due at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday.

The pair were also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

The mother faces an additional two counts of child cruelty and Mr Southerton faces one count of the same charge.

Keanu, known as Kiwi to his friends and family, was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital from an address in Old Moat Way.
