Big Society idea under scrutiny on Portsmouth estate

Help

Inside Out tests the idea of the Big Society with people living in a tower block in Portsmouth.

Gerry Stoker was the person who helped come up with the concept of a Big Society.

It was his research that was taken up as a mantra by David Cameron and the government.

He visits residents in the Handsworth House tower block to see if he can create the right conditions for a Big Society on the estate.

But will people power help to bring the community closer together and tackle the estate's problems?

Inside Out South is on BBC One South on Monday, 31 October at 19:30 GMT and nationwide on the iPlayer thereafter.
