Lesley Dunford denies daughter's murder in Camber, Rye

A woman has denied murdering her three-year-old daughter in East Sussex more than seven years ago.

Lesley Dunford, 33, is accused of fatally injuring Lucy at the former family home in Camber, Rye, in February 2004.

Ms Dunford, now of Windermere Close in Exeter, Devon, entered a not guilty plea during a plea and case management hearing at Lewes Crown Court.

She was arrested at home in July and later charged by Sussex Police.

Judge Richard Brown freed her on conditional bail and told her she would stand trial on 28 February next year at the same court.

Lucy died on 2 February 2004, at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings, where she had been taken by air ambulance from her home in Pelwood Road, Camber.
