Driver hurt as coach smashes into parked cars in Sussex

A coach driver has been taken to hospital with minor injuries following a crash which left a trail of destruction along a West Sussex street.

The vehicle was being driven along Downview Road in Worthing when it hit eight parked cars at about 2115 BST on Saturday.

All the cars were unoccupied at the time of the crash.

The coach was owned by Nottingham-based Trevor Bailey Travel. The firm said it was looking into the incident.

'Damaged beyond repair'

Sussex Police have also started an investigation into the crash.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "At About 9pm on Saturday 18th June a bus containing only the driver was in collision with eight parked cars in Downview Road, Worthing.

"Some of the cars were damaged beyond repair and the bus driver received minor injuries and was treated at hospital.

"Police are making follow-up inquires with the car owners and will be interviewing the bus driver in due course."

Officers have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact Sussex Police.
