Concern over Great Yarmouth coastguard station closure

Help

There is concern on the Norfolk coast over a plan to close Great Yarmouth's coastguard station as part of a modernisation programme.

At the moment there are 18 so-called rescue co-ordination centres around Britain's shores.

If modernisation plans go ahead there will be just two 24-hour centres - on the Solent and at Aberdeen - with six more centres operating during the day.

John Cranston reports.
