Lord-Lieutenant wins Yorkshire lifetime award

Dr Ingrid Roscoe, the Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, has won the Lifetime Achievement award at the 2010 Yorkshire Awards.

Dr Roscoe became the first lady Lord-Lieutenant in the north of England in 2004.

She is required to meet and attend members of the royal family on visits to the county and to fulfil a range of ceremonial functions on behalf of the monarchy, such as the inspection of troops, attendance at church services, the presentation of honours, awards and medals, and the presidency of non-political and charitable organisations.
