Bus passengers in County Durham are being asked to choose which services they can cope without.
Durham County Council pays out £4.5m on services each year and wants to reduce spending by more than £1m.
The money is spent on securing services which would not be commercially viable for operators without council support.
County Councillor Neil Foster said: "We are asking people to let us know which bus services they think they could best cope without."
