A 12-mile stretch of the M6 between Great Barr and Cannock is to close overnight on Friday and Saturday.

The southbound side of the motorway will close between 2200 BST and 1000 BST, between junction 11, Cannock, and junction seven, Great Barr.

The closures are to allow new gantries to be installed.

A Highways Agency spokesman said he knew schools had broken up and families would be going away but traffic would not be busy at those times.
