Sir Cliff Richard questioned by police

24 August 2014 Last updated at 19:13 BST

Sir Cliff Richard has been interviewed by South Yorkshire Police in connection with an alleged historical sexual offence, his spokesman has said.

It comes after police searched his home in Sunningdale, Berkshire, on 14 August.

The star voluntarily met with officers and was not arrested or charged, although the interview was conducted under caution.

Sir Cliff denies the alleged offence, saying the claim of an assault at a religious event in Sheffield in 1985 is "completely false".

Leanne Brown reports.
