Terrorist training camp suspect arrested at airport

A man has been arrested at Manchester Airport on suspicion of attending a Pakistan terrorist training camp.

The 26-year-old, from Sparkhill, Birmingham, was held after arriving on a flight from Lahore on Friday night.

He is thought to have been in Pakistan since leaving the UK in 2010 and is suspected of attending the camp in 2011, West Midlands Police said.

He was released on conditional bail on Saturday evening after being questioned by the force's counter-terrorism unit.

Supt Shaun Edwards said: "This was an intelligence-led arrest. He was not detained because of any immediate risk to the public.

"The suspect has been released with strict bail conditions while we continue our investigation."
