Whiplash claims should be filed more quickly - ABI

4 July 2014 Last updated at 16:13 BST

Claimants seeking compensation payouts for conditions such as whiplash should file their reports more quickly, a leading motoring insurer has claimed.

James Dalton, head of motor insurance at the Association of British Insurers, told BBC Radio 5 live's Wake Up to Money that claims should be made when the injury could be proven by a doctor.

It comes after a group of MPs called for a ban on insurance firms paying compensation without seeking a medical exam first.
