Luis Suarez 'bite': Alan Shearer calls for lengthy ban

25 June 2014 Last updated at 17:06 BST

Former England captain Alan Shearer has called for Liverpool and Uruguay star Luis Suarez to face "a worldwide ban" for allegedly biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini.

The sport's governing body, Fifa, has opened disciplinary proceedings following the incident at Tuesday's World Cup match. Suarez denies biting Chiellini, insisting the defender bumped into him.

Shearer said he would ban Suarez "for as long as I could".
