6 June 2014 Last updated at 10:02 BST

World War Two veterans and world leaders have gathered in Normandy to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

Historian Antony Beevor takes a tour of Gold Beach with the BBC's Simon McCoy and explains the course of events at Arromanches 70 years ago.
