Commonwealth Games: Highlights of the Queen's Baton Relay in England

The Queen's Baton Relay has spent an eventful first week in England.

The baton, which is the main curtain raiser for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, was welcomed by thousands of people in Manchester, Congleton, High Bradfield, Sheffield, Birmingham, Plymouth, Bristol, Southampton and Kent.

Many high profile athletes joined the celebrations including squash champion Laura Massaro, triple jumper Laura Samuel, Olympic champion rower Helen Glover and double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes.

The baton will spend time in Oxford, London, Suffolk, Leicester, Hull, Leeds, Tyneside and Northumberland over the next week before it crosses the border to Scotland as the countdown to Glasgow 2014 continues.
