Cyril Smith inquiry: Police identify new suspects

28 April 2014 Last updated at 13:32 BST

Rochdale council has announced an independent review into whether or not there was a cover-up of allegations of child abuse linked to the town's former MP, the late Cyril Smith.

The claims focus on a residential school run by the council where several former pupils say they were abused.

The police are already investigating events at Knowl View school in the 1980s and 1990s and say that at least 10 new suspects are being investigated.

Alex Forsyth reports.
