Tenerife deaths: Man tells how he saved drowning child

7 April 2014 Last updated at 17:13 BST

Two British women have died on the Spanish island of Tenerife, after they were swept away by a wave.

They have been named as Uma Ramalingam, 42, and Barathi Ruvikumar, 39. They apparently drowned while trying to rescue two children.

Eyewitness Adam Cramer was on holiday at the time and pulled one of the children out of the water.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live Drive: "I saw this girl and I had to try and help her... the waves were just throwing her against the rocks."
