Chaos as Sheffield race abandoned due to lack of water

6 April 2014 Last updated at 19:52 BST

Thousands of runners about to start a half-marathon in Sheffield were left disappointed and angry when the race was suddenly cancelled.

Organisers said they were forced to abandon the event as water supplies for participants had not arrived.

Chaos followed, as many people ignored the announcement, and ran the race anyway.

Anne-Marie Tasker reports.
